Announcement of artist residency at Hammerhagen 2026
Introduction
Hammerhagen is announcing three artist residencies at Mellom-Hammer farm at Fosskok in Lørenskog for the 2026 season. Hammerhagen is a park for ecology and art that seeks to explore the potential that lies in the garden and the surroundings around the farm. The park is linked to the artist collective Fosskok who live on the site, and Lørenskog municipality which owns the land. We have a contract until 2028, and the initiative is temporary. Applicants are therefore asked to think especially about temporality, site sensitivity and collaboration with local actors and resources. We encourage several fields to apply, where gardeners, landscape architects, engineers, designers, visual and performing artists, musicians, biologists, historians, researchers, mediators and educators are welcome
Premises
At Hammerhagen we are concerned with social practices, collective development and experimental exploration over time. The outreach aspect is particularly important, as the park organizes markets, gatherings and has many visitors of different ages. We offer collaboration with local initiatives that may be relevant to the project you are working on. Through the garden, we want to encourage alternative ways of working outdoors. We are looking for work that can be activated at different times of the year, and that reflects on what a garden can contain - both in terms of function, mystery and pleasure. Your project does not necessarily have to be completed by the opening weekend, and you are encouraged to develop this after the 2026 season.
Offer
We are offering a two-week summer stay at Mellom-Hammer farm at Fosskok (possibility between July 1 - September 30), as well as a fee of NOK 15,000 and NOK 5,000 in material costs to each participant. You can develop your project beyond these two weeks, but without a guarantee of a bed space. The farm has two accessible bedrooms, a workshop, a sound studio, large common areas and a playground in the garden. Fosskok is an active environment and you will thus become part of a larger community. You can therefore expect joint dinners and other activities in the collective. The stay will result in a presentation of the projects during the season opening on August 29 - 30, 2026. Hammerhagen is an official exhibition location, and upon invitation, applicants receive a letter of intent to apply for funding for their own projects. We help with municipal and county applications.
Facilities:
- 2 bedrooms, shared kitchen and bathroom, common area, recording studio and rehearsal room
- Large garden with: apple trees, vegetable garden, chicken coop, compost bin and storehouse.
- A simple carpentry workshop with: table saw, crosscut saw, plunge and circular saw, jigsaw, angle grinder, TIG/MIG welder, plasma cutter, grinders, drill and various.
Opportunities for collaboration:
- Skårer farm/Lørenskog village museum
- Schübeler gardens and KVANN
- History Society Lørenskog
- Ecology Society Lørenskog
- We are in close dialogue with the municipality and can establish contact with several opportunities in the area
Location
The property at Mellom-Hammer is Lørenskog's oldest farmyard, with a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. The farmyard borders Østmarka and is next to a cemetery and a junior high school. The surrounding area is defined by fields, swamps, rivers, forests and some industry and buildings.
Committee, jury and applicant group
The committee behind Hammerhagen is Silje Kjørholt, Henrik Nordahl and Ole Petter Ribe, and the jury for 2026 is last year's artists: Matias Frøysaa, Grete Riseng and Erle Saxegaard. This is how we want to pass the baton on to three new park artists.
